WHAT IS EBBY?EBBY is a hub for Egyptian children’s books and all those interested in them.
WHEN DID WE START?EBBY (Egyptian Board on Books for Young People) was created in 1987 to be a chapter of International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY).
WHAT IS OUR VISION?To support Egyptians interested in children's literature in all its forms.
DO WE HAVE A MISSION?Yes!
1. Develop a love of reading and raise the level of reading in Egyptian children. 2. Improve children’s books as well as the competencies of those who work in the field. 3. Strengthen cooperations with international organizations working in the field. WHAT IS THE POINT OF DOING THESE THINGS IN CONNECTION WITH IBBY?In addition to keeping Egypt on the map of children’s book organizations and the opportunities that come with it, as members of IBBY, we have the right to impact the world of children's books through:

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE WE ENGAGED IN?
- Reading, creativity and storytelling workshops in Cairo and Giza then the rest of the governorates.
- Facilitating communication and information flow for those working in the field.
- Organizing workshops for authors and illustrators to improve the quality of Egyptian children’s books as well as training sessions for others in the field.
- Creating a database of authors and illustrators, publishers and critics on EBBY’s website
- Organizing and hosting seminars for children.
- Communicating with the Ministry of Education to organize workshops for school students.
- Designing and launching the EBBY golden sticker: "EBBY recommends."
- Issuing periodic newsletters covering EBBY activities and Egyptian children’s books.
- Keeping authors, illustrators, scholars, translators and publishers posted on grant opportunities and competitions in the field.
- Organizing a competition for university students to design an EBBY logo.
- Nominating Egyptian writers for the Hans Christian Andersen Award and books for the IBBY Honour List.
- Participating in children’s literature conferences.
- Organizing a children’s competition.
- Addressing the media on children’s literature.
- Fundraising to fund EBBY activities.
- Create a forum on the EBBY site to facilitate communication and provide data for those in the field.
- Attending international and local conferences and book exhibitions.
- Providing paid and pro bono consultancy services to those working in the field.
- Supporting book fairs in schools and school trips to libraries and book fairs.
- Cooperating with: Ministry of Culture of the Supreme Council for Culture (Committee on Child Culture) and the National Center for Children's Culture and Palaces of Culture and the Ministry of Youth and the National Center for Childhood and Motherhood.
